Before you begin, make sure both the Hilo Core Band and the Hilo Cuff are fully charged.
Calibration is mandatory and cannot be skipped.
When you use Hilo for the FIRST time, you must complete 4 successful calibrations on 4 different days (one per day) to start. The Hilo App will not display blood pressure data until all four required calibrations have been successfully completed. However, the Hilo Band must be worn continuously starting from the first calibration. Even though results will not be shown during this period, the band will still record data in the background to help build your personal profile.
The app will guide you through each calibration.
The following features become available only after all 4 calibrations have been completed successfully:
Individual cuff on-demand measurements are not available during the initial calibration period.
Blood pressure reports will display data starting from day 8, provided all 4 calibrations have been completed successfully.
Health app integration becomes available only after all 4 calibrations have been completed successfully. Until then, the Health app integration button will not be displayed.
Hilo Phone Measurement (camera-based blood pressure measurement).
When should I take a calibration measurement?
Many users find it easiest to perform calibrations at consistent times, such as:
In the morning, before starting the day
In the evening, after work
Before going to bed
Avoid the following for at least 30 minutes before calibration:
Eating
Drinking caffeine
Smoking
Physical activity
Alcohol
Stressful situations
Calibration steps
1 | Position your Hilo Core Band correctly |
| Place the band on the top (external side) of your wrist, and above your wrist bone. |
|
|
| The sensor must remain in direct contact with your skin. The band should feel snug but comfortable. |
|
|
| If you see a “poor signal quality” message:
|
2 | Position the Hilo Cuff and adjust the tightness |
| Place the cuff on your upper arm, directly on the skin (do not roll up your sleeve as this may restrict blood flow). |
| The cuff should sit around an inch above the elbow. |
| Tighten the cuff so it feels secure but you can still slide two fingers between your arm and the cuff.
|
|
|
3 | Sit in the correct position |
| Sit comfortably with your back supported and both feet flat on the floor. |
|
|
| Your forearm should rest on a flat surface, from hand to elbow. Make sure the edge of the table is not restricting your blood flow. |
|
|
| Important:
|
| The following activities should be avoided for at least 30 minutes prior to taking the measurement:
|
| If calibration failsOccasionally a calibration may not succeed even if the instructions are followed.
If this happens, the Hilo App will ask you to stop and try again later. Please wait at least 2 hours before attempting another calibration. |
